Hey Dennis

Like you, I am always surprised that anyone reads my blog, yet feel compelled to write anyway. I wanted to let you know that I, for one, am interested in anything you have to say!

All the best for building understanding this year. I know you will inspire other administrators to take up the challenge of being connected to learning, both online and off.

Thanks, Justin. Yes, I am remiss in not getting that learning out there. Mostly because I need to discuss it with others. Just requires a more lengthy time thinking about what to write and that's time I don't really have these days!

Trying to get my groove back, though.

Some great reminders here, Dennis, thanks! So simple, so true, but often the simple things don't get said. Sounds like you're off to a flying start. I'm looking forward to reading about your adventures.

@Tara, I love it. So much of a culture shift is in the mindset that students, teachers, and administrators bring to their tasks. Students need to also realize that we are present FOR them. Teachers need to model this. When they do, they are the ones students remember for life.

@Peach, thanks for checking it out. H1N1 does amazing things for creating some time. Want to write a lot more about this beginning of my career. The obstacles, the thoughts, the successes and the bumps. Hopefully it'll spark conversation and if it doesn't, I'll still gain from the reflection.

Dennis, I love this very noble task. Just love it. Made me think of friends working at a school in HK who surprised me with their view of teacher lunch and break duty. It's not being on the lookout for bad behavior or something to go wrong--on the contrary--teachers feel that they are present FOR the students. If they need something, teachers are around to help. Simple yet definitely creating a culture of togetherness and trust.

p.s. Great song!
