The power of the strikethrough
The power of the strikethrough
I was taking notes in a meeting yesterday and a key point came up on best practice pedagogy.
I began to write it, changed my mind on the first word and realized that leaving the word and striking it out sent a more powerful message than replacing it so that it’s never seen.
Can you share this with faculty as is?
Let Require students tap into their creativity and originality.
To force reflection and to encourage change…I say, yes.

Me too, I say yes. The statement is infinitely more powerful with the strikethrough.
(ps – hi Dennis! Finally managed to find your new blog. Going through my blogroll links this morning and had to delete quite a few for no longer being online – I’m glad your old blog was still there with the link to this one!)
Hi Tracy!
Glad you found me. It’s always hard to advertise a move to a new location. You just hope you catch people when they are reading their RSS feeds.
Best intentions have me returning to regular/semi-regular blogging again. Need to get back into it. Lots of stuff running through my head to get down in posts. Needs to be done.
Hope you are having a good summer!
before i only though of those strikethroughs as cute. it makes the article more humanly since it shows the trail of though. but with your post, i realize why i really like it. it really conveys a lot of thought. it makes people reflect more and think about the differences a work/words make.
